Strada dei Castelli del Chianti

The beautiful castle road winds through the landscape in the heart of the Chianti Classico. Clearly signposted, the road connects the region's old castles such as the Castello di Brolio.

What better way to discover the Chianti Classico than in a relaxed atmosphere, enjoying the small and larger wonders by the wayside?

Speed and haste do not seem to fit into this area of Tuscany at all. The roads wind through vineyards and olive groves, cypress boulevards, Mediterranean Macchia and oak forests.

Castle street in Chianti

In addition to its beautiful nature, the region is full of numerous historical buildings, which slot themselves harmonically into the landscape.

Often, only a few kilometres separate well-maintained castles or monasteries, detours are often worth it. Yellow signs along the Strada dei Castelli make it easy to find and explore the relics of the past, which are often hidden behind trees and hills.

Past important castles

Not only cultural buffs, but also nature lovers, will be amazed at the castle road! Small rivers and fantastic views of the landscape's hills, forests, mediaeval cities and villages, are just some of the highlights.

Relaxing trip through the Chianti Classico

If you wish to follow the Strada dei Castelli, take your time. Even though a look at the map shows only short distances between the castles and fortresses, the reality is slightly different. Because of the narrow roads, you have to drive slowly through the Chiant, luckily!
