Panzano in Chianti

The historical town of Panzano in Chianti lies picturesquely above the region's vineyards and forests. The castle as well as the city walls of this popular holiday destination are proof of the many battles between Florence and Siena.

In addition to the castle, the town in the heart of the Chianti Classico also has other cultural spots on offer, such as the church Santa Maria and the nearby Romantic church San Leolino. The terracotta bust of San Eufrosino in San Leolino.

San Eufrosino

According to tradition, Paul, personally sent the Syrian Bishop who was honoured in Chianti. Even though this cannot quite be proven by newer scientific research, an oratorio was built above his grave. Pilgrims believe that the water that comes out of a nearby fountain has healing properties.
