Radda in Chianti

Thanks to its mediaeval centre, Radda in Chianti is one of the most attractive wine towns of the Chianti Classico. The central Piazza Ferrucci, crooked lanes and archways, give the district original flair.

Since 1415, Radda in Chianti has been known as the headquarters of the Lega del Chianti and has developed into a famous winegrowing centre. The grapes grown on the surrounding hills are made into a distinct wine.

Wine town with romantic flair

In an ambience of times gone past, you can wander through the town's narrow lanes and archways and visit the small enoteces, which offer wine and other local delicacies.

Mediaeval old town

The beautiful Palazzo del Podesta, which is bordered by the shopping boulevard Via Roma, dates back to the 15th century. The church San Niccolo, which is located directly in the main square, uses one of the castle's old towers as a freestanding bell tower.

Castles and monasteries around Radda

Picturesque castles and monasteries surround the town and give it the unique flair of the Chianti Classico in the heart of Tuscany. Some historical mediaeval buildings are today open to visitors as winegrowing estates or holiday residences.
