Viareggio's beaches
Viareggio's long, sandy beaches are said to be the most beautiful beaches in northern Tuscany. In places, the beaches are 200 metres wide; the water quality is classed as very good.
In Viareggio itself, the beaches can only be reached by going over one of the numerous Bagni, which are subject to fees. The bathing areas offer sun loungers and parasols, changing rooms and showers. Quite often, the Bagnis also have a cafe and sport opportunities.
Anyone preferring to swim outside of the lidos, can go to the area south of the harbour. Open beaches stretching for kilometres lie along the Pineta di Levante.
