Portoferraio's beaches
If you follow the coast of Portoferraio to the west, you will reach one of the beautiful pebble beaches. The bright stones on the beaches of Le Ghiaie, Le Viste, La Paduella shine in the water, which is ideal for taking a refreshing dip.
La Paduella
The surroundings of this secluded, quiet beach La Paduella are light and bright. Two cliffs frame the 150 metre long beach. The smooth, white pebble and sandy beach leads down to magnificently clear waters.
Sun loungers and parasols, as well as boats can be hired here. A bar and restaurant complete the facilities in this sheltered beach.
Le Ghiaie
The 400 metre long beach Le Ghiaie is stretches along the northern coast, outside of Portoferraio's harbour. White, smooth pebbles slope into the crystal clear Mediterranean. This stretch of water belongs is protected, fishing is forbidden. The under-water world is extremely interesting, making this an ideal place for snorkeling and diving.
The greenery of the public park, which lines the beach and its promenade, provide welcome shade. A children's play area will make any child happy. Comfort is provided at the beach by various rental opportunities, as well as a bar and restaurant.
Le Viste
Sand and colourful pebbles cover the quiet beach Le Viste, situated directly by the old town of Portoferraio. The mighty Forte Falcone, as well as the former residence of Napoleon, tower over the beach. The sea in this area is protected and fishing is not allowed. However, diverse sea fauna can be discovered.
A steep path leads down to the 150 metres of beach. There are no general beach facilities, but a bar and restaurant with terrace provide guests with comfort.
